A Sheba team traveled to Ghana to bring advanced eye care to patients in urgent need, many of whom are suffering from conditions so advanced they are rarely seen in first-world countries.
Partnering with Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana’s largest referral center, the Sheba team not only performed life-changing surgeries but also trained over 120 local medical professionals. For patients facing the darkness of late-stage eye disease, Sheba offered not just treatment, but a second chance at sight, dignity and life.
But the impact reached far beyond the operating room. This mission laid the foundation for a long-term partnership rooted in equity and sustainability. By offering mentorship, diagnostic tools, and future collaboration in research and pathology, Sheba is helping Ghanaian doctors build a stronger healthcare system from within.
