An event to benefit the Center for Disaster and Humanitarian Medicine at Sheba Medical Center, in memory of Dr. Ruben Cohen Israel’s national Center for Disaster and Humanitarian Medicine is run and housed by Sheba Medical Center. The staff travels the world offering assistance and support—in January 2023 there were four separate missions just to Africa.
Dr. Ruben Cohen was an extraordinary son, father, husband, physician and humanitarian. He traveled the globe giving selflessly in disaster zones to people in need, no matter where they were. From Asia to Africa to Haiti to Ground Zero in New York, Ruben was there to help. While in Haiti after the major earthquake there, he and Sheba Director General Itzik Kreiss became close.
Dr. Ruben was tragically killed in a plane crash in 2021, his memory continues to inspire, and the funds raised will support the kind of work that was the focus of his life.
