However, many things they do, including new construction, equipment and research are supported entirely through the contributions of generous supporters.

For most of us, it’s just a regular morning. But while the world sleeps, Israeli doctors board planes to bring our expertise to the center of disaster and need – wherever it hits.
From the war in Ukraine to the earthquake in Turkey to a massive explosion in Haiti to improving maternal health in rural Ethiopia, Sheba staff are there, bringing our medical expertise to the people who need it. We can’t predict where we’ll be needed next, but we know we will be ready.
Sheba conducts over one-third of all clinical trials in Israel each year to help support the steady stream of innovative and visionary research that comes out of the hospital. There is a wide range of research underway, but we need the generosity and passion of people like you to help make sure the life-altering work can continue.

Meet Chaya, who was kept on life support for the first three weeks of her life. Her hospital stay may not have been covered by national healthcare, but the machine that kept her alive was not. There are thousands of examples of the life-saving equipment that Sheba needs more of in order to ensure the latest equipment and technology that are the cornerstone of Sheba’s excellence.

By making a gift to Sheba Medical Center of appreciated stock, you are in reality contributing more than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation of the proceeds. You pay no capital gains taxes on the appreciation of donated stock but get the full tax deduction of the current value. And if you want to continue to own that security, you can replace the donated shares with new shares at the current price, eliminating your existing taxable capital gain. If you are 70½ years old or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to benefit American Friends of Sheba Medical Center (AFSMC) and receive tax benefits in return.
You can give any amount up to $100,000 (indexed for inflation) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as AFSMC without having to pay income taxes on the money. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.
The IRA charitable rollover is an attractive option because it can satisfy the RMD requirement without incurring income tax, even if you don’t itemize your deductions.
