Newsweek Names Sheba Medical Center a World’s Best Smart Hospital for Third Consecutive Year

Sheba’s Cardiology, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Gastroenterology Wards Also Ranked on Top Specialty Lists for Excellence in Care

Ramat Gan, Israel – September 13, 2023 – Sheba Medical Center, Israel’s largest medical center, announced today it has been named by Newsweek among the top 20 “World’s Smartest Hospitals” for the third year in a row, ranking 14th on this year’s list. Additionally, Sheba’s cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery and gastroenterology specialty wards all ranked in the top 50 in Newsweek’s ranking of World’s Best Specialty Hospitals.

These rankings recognize Sheba’s achievements over the past year, including the design and rapid adoption of a range of digital health technologies and AI platforms in clinical practice. Through its innovation arm ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate), digital and smart solutions incubated at Sheba are not only used in-house, but also by global hospitals to help shape the future of healthcare.

Newsweek’s Smart Hospital rankings, produced together with Statista, include an evaluation of candidate hospitals by senior officials in the digital and information fields, a peer survey of directors and experts in the field of smart hospitals, and an international survey of senior professionals in the field. Hospitals are ranked by proficiency and leadership in using electronic functionalities, telemedicine, digital imaging, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The specialty ward rankings include an international peer survey of over 40,000 specialists, professionals and hospital directors from more than 20 countries, evaluation by world-renowned medical experts, and patient reports of medical treatment satisfaction.
