Sheba Secures Spot in Top-10 Global List Underscoring Commitment to Excellence in Healthcare

Ramat Gan, Israel – February 28th, 2024Sheba Medical Center, Israel’s largest hospital facility, announced today it was recognized as one of the Top 10 best hospitals in the world by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. Sheba’s ranking at #9, also represents the 6th consecutive year that the hospital has been chosen as a World’s Best Hospital.

These accolades were achieved despite a myriad of challenges brought about by the Israel-Hamas war and underscores Sheba’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality healthcare.

The World’s Best Hospitals 2024 ranking lists the best hospitals in 30 countries including: USA, Germany, Japan, France, Israel, Italy, United Kingdom, South Korea, Brazil, India, Spain, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and Singapore. The countries were selected based on multiple comparability factors, such as standard of living, life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals, and data availability.

The lists are based on four data sources:

  • Recommendations from Medical Experts: Online survey among tens of thousands of doctors, health care professionals, and hospital managers in 30 countries
  • Results from Patient Surveys: Survey of patient satisfaction with hospitalization
  • Hospital Quality Metrics: Medical indicators e.g., data on quality of care for treatments, hygiene measures, patient safety, and waiting times.
  • PROMs Implementation Survey: Optional online survey on the implementation and use of PROMs in hospitals.

Based on the above four pillars and their respective weights, a final source was calculated for each hospital.

“This achievement represents a resounding endorsement by our colleagues around the world. Sheba is working diligently to make Israel a better, healthier place and highlights our abilities to be both a center of medical excellence, as well as a beacon of co-existence, where Jewish and Arab medical personnel are working side by side 24/7 to save the lives of civilians and soldiers- Jews, Moslems and Christians alike,” said Professor Yitshak Kreiss, Director General of Sheba Medical Center. “The last five months have significantly challenged us and forced us to adapt. However, it has also demonstrated our resilience and unwavering commitment to providing cutting-edge care for all our patients. Our mission to provide healthcare without boundaries, from trauma to rehab, repairing body and soul, rising above politics and conflict, is what makes Sheba Medical Center, a world class facility and a ray of hope for humanity.”
